An idealistic scientist finds himself trapped in a deadly project devised by a billionaire obsessed with the power of music. Jack Blade, a brilliant chemist and physicist, agrees to create a bomb synchronized to a classical composition, convinced he is taking part in a revolutionary artistic experiment, unaware that it is intended to eliminate the Russian mobster Ivan Sarapov.
To bring this rhythmic device—set to detonate on the final note—to life, and ignorant of its true purpose, Jack teams up with his daughter Caroline, a violinist nicknamed “The Golden Violin Sound Witch,” whose music becomes the heart of the mechanism.
Finally, Jack calls on a man he would have preferred never to see again in this context.
